Significant Differences in Price

0
I got my Revlon ColourBurst lipsticks a couple months back. I did review on them on the post below. I love them and I still do, especially the Soft Nude 070. Remember I got them at somewhere close to $8 each + tax? Well, what I forgot to tell is... I actually took a walk around shoppers a couple days after I purchased mine at WalMart. I was so surprised seeing the same product, same brand, and same Colours availability for $11.23 each. Yeah, I think it was about that. I remember it was $11 a couple cents. That is give or takes about $3 differences.

Well I hope WalMart will never ever changed their prices on these babies. I love them so much and for my next buy, I think I am going to use the... Some said there is $3 coupon off and some said $2 for the Revlon Colour Burst Lipstick. That would be like $5-6 each plus tax which is great for drugstore lipstick prices.

Surprise, Revlon ColourBurst Lipstick is finally here (Ontario)!

0

Went to Walmart for the purpose of finding Dr Scholl’s Comfort Insoles for Her, but you know that I have been longing for the Revlon ColourBurst Lipstick since forever so I check up the makeup counter and was very happy to find that they are finally here! The product just came. I was there as they unpack more boxes. I was so happy nobody tries the counter sample yet so I picked the colour I wanted and try them on. Well, actually I don’t have to try them on one by one. The one that I love is Soft Nude 070 and Peach 075. They look awesome!

The nude colour does not wash your face out! It has a little big pink pigment on it. As for the peach, I love it better than my Rimmel Crush because it is less orangy.

My first impression, “OMG these lipsticks look awesome”. I am falling in love with their packaging, its classic! I got them for $7.97 + tax each.

When I open the lipstick, the first thing I notice is that they have no scent, well at least no strong smell like my other lipstick. When I apply them, it glides nicely, feels creamy but not shimmery. They leave a glossy finish. I don’t know why the colour won’t show up if I use lip balm before applying the lipstick. I love having lip balm before lipstick. My lips get dry easily especially in winter time. I have to have lip balm on me every time. Maybe I’ll use less balm, like one coat only before applying the lipstick next time.

Here are some swatches. You can tell which is soft nude and which is peach : ) They are truly different colour. Left one is Soft Nude and right is Peach.

I apply soft nude on my upper lips and Peach on bottom lips. See the difference? But you gotta admit both look nice right? I don’t think the colour disappear “that” easily. I find them like others meaning apply only after eating, drinking and a couple hours. They are not long lasting, just normal.

New Obsession?

0
I think I am obsessed with drugstore brand lipsticks lately. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing. As obsessed as I am, I don’t buy all colours as most colour totally don’t suit me. I am thinking of getting red-red lipstick but I am too chicken! However, it might looks good for some occasion. I am thinking dark eye shadow look with red lipstick + my super fair skin. Not too bad huh? Don’t put too much hope on that!

For my new obsession, I am thinking of adding Revlon Colour Burst into my lippy collection. I like the super popular SOFT NUDE and perhaps Peach. If this product as awesome as what everyone has been saying, I might get True Red in addition to soft nude and peach.

I am in quest to find the super moist lipstick and long lasting. To this, I am a bit up-set with my late purchased Rimmel lipstick. I love the colour but it dried up fast and the colour pretty much gone in half to an hour. Not too sure if weather have any contribution to this or it truly is that way.

From all my late purchased, L’Oreal is the most moist lipstick hence the price is quite the moist of all too. That is why I am excited! I am hoping Revlon colour burst will be better than L’Oreal. They are in the same price range, both drugstores but I have been hearing how smooth Revlon new collection is, how true their colour is... yada yada yada... It makes me want them even more! I went to Superstore today and I was hoping to pick up Soft Nude but the clerk said, “We have not received the new Revlon collection yet.” How sad! I am going to visit some other store and check them out! I hope they have it.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick and another Maybelline Lipstick Haul

0

Rimmel Crush

Maybelline Born With It

Swatches!!! Pink one is Born With It and The peachy Orangy one is Rimmel Crush

I went to Walmart looking for peachy nude colour lipstick since Maybelline Pink Please is too pink pigmented on me. I think Pink Please will suit just fine anyone who has at least olive to brown skin colour. It looks so out of place on me. My skin is so fair and the colour is just not right on me. I look quite crazy and out of place with it.

So today, I decided to hit Walmart and find myself some peach colour. I was just browsing, looking around at every lipstick sections and this one particular lipstick really stand out of the others. It is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in crush (202). The price barely $5! Maybe becomes $5ish and a tad more after tax. Compare to Maybelline which costs $7.69 or .96 + tax. It smells very nice too!! It does not cake when you reapply it.

I also got myself Born With It by the same Maybelline lipstick product. At first I was quite suspicious that it will turn out the same like pink please but it doesn’t. This one looks nicer on me than Pink Please. I guess because it gives a more subtle colour than Pink Please.

Remember I was discussing how Pink Please smells like play doh? Well, it comes to a surprise that this one smells very different than Pink Please. I guess it based on product batch? This Born With It smells nice like Rimmel but Rimmel is nicer. At least it does not smell like play doh.

Maybe next time if you buy some that smells like play doh, just returned it and get another or go to another store.

Here are a few swatches on Rimmel Crush. Nice isn’t it? I only wear it on the bottom lips for the first 2 pictures but both/ whole lips on the third.

*Please excuse my so bare face as I was lazy to put on foundation hahahha!

Skittles Lip Balm?

0
Me again! I was wondering around Walmart cosmetic section just likes the usual. Whenever I have to go there to buy some deodorant or fish food, etc, I will always take a tour to the makeup department. I don’t usually buy stuff from there, unless has been stated or known by others that the product is amazing.

For many years, I stay with Blistex lip balm – Berry flavour? I forgot but it is the pink reddish one. I love it so much and I think it is one trustable lip balm. I do try a couple lip balms such as Nivea, Softlips, Chapstick, Neutrogena, etc.

But for today, my eyes were wondering into these... I would say kid’s make up section? Or perhaps for teen? And I found lip balm with lollipops flavour, cookie, etc. I was a little bit sceptics about their quality but I give it a try. I bought Tropical Skittles lip balm and it is ok. I love the smell and as for moist, I don’t think it’s bad. I would say it’s the same range like Chapstick or better since chapstick doesn’t smell this good.

So, if you’re bored with your usual lip balm, I don’t see why we should not give these good smelly babies a try.

Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask

1
Want cheap but with quality face mask?

Try Montagne Jeunesse!! Sounds cool? Nah~ I got these mini pack face mask from Walmart, Zellers, and many other general store.

I took two of many kinds, Peel-Off Masque and Deep Sea Mud Pack. The chocolate stress reliever is tempting but I decided to go with these two. I would like to try the peel off mask compare to my regular Freeman peel off mask. In the end, I think I’d stick with my Freeman. I think it is more quality and quantity for better price.

I kind of like the Deep Sea. Feels like the H2O marine see mask but cheaper in price and quality. Still, it is usable and trusted. It is not that cheap cheap quality.

These face mask costs $1 something for each. I think after tax and what not the total comes close to $1.50 each. You can use 1 pack for 2-3 times. I would recommend that you tear the package carefully. Try not to make so big and of tear. Why? To keep the moistness of the mask since you can use it for more than once. As for me, I did that and then I place the mask inside a zip lock bag. I use it once a week. So for me, 1 package last for 3 weeks since I only use it once a week. Try not to store it for too long.

Maybelline Pink Please and L’Oreal Colour Riche Nude

0

(left one is Maybelline and Right is Loreal)

Today’s topic! Here are my two favourite lipsticks. I’ve been using them ever since I decided to wear lipstick. For those who are not a make-up heavy person, you’d probably like following my blog because I’m not a makeup heavy as well. I like looking natural as close possible. I use make up to cover mini flaws such as monthly acne or the scar/ freckles.

I love these two lipsticks because...

Maybelline Pink Please (025)
The colour looks warm on my skin but I think I look better in Nude lipstick due to how fair my skin colour is (I use Fair which is the lightest colour available in ID – just to give you the imagination on how fair I am). So yeah, I look horrible in red or purple or even hot pink lipstick. They are all too bold on me. People said this lipstick smells like kids’ play doh but I don’t think so. I have both play doh and this lipstick on my hands and I don’t think they smell the same. Maybe just a tad but definitely not play doh smell. Whenever I use this lipstick, I always use a nude colour gloss on top of it so it doesn’t look too pink on me. Cost $7+ plus tax, close to 8 bucks plus tax

L’Oreal Colour Riche (826)
This is probably the best drugstore lipstick ever! It’s so moist and I can re-apply it for many times without having cakes on my lips. It doesn’t really colour your lips but definitely enhance the lips. It makes you lips look fuller. If you’d like to look matte then don’t apply lip-gloss on top if it but I always do to make it look extra full. It smells nice too! I got this for $9ish + tax.

Freeman Facial Peel Off Mask

0

No money for SPA day? Not a problem. DIY at your convenient! My once in every two weeks habit, clean my face with my daily facial soap and put on Freeman Facial Peel Off Mask. Wait for at least 20 minutes which I usually do 30-45 minutes. It’s not expensive, everyone can afford one. The only problem is, here in Toronto, It’s very popular or limited stock. Why I say that, it is because every time I to Wal-Mart/ Zellers to get this product, they are often sold out/ out of stock. I got this one from Wal-Mart $7+ish plus tax. Not bad huh? Considering I can use this for so many times!

The only thing is that you have to apply quite thick layers or otherwise it doesn’t really work. When I do thinning layers, it doesn’t really clean of the dead skin/ excess oil. That is why I waited for a longer period than what it’s stated on the tube. I apply quite thick layers but not over thick.

Freeman offers a lot of facial mask but this is one of my favourite because it’s a peeling mask unlike the traditional one which requires you to clean it off with water after use. It’s affordable!

Benza Clin – Topical Gel

0

This is what I use to treat my acne. I got it prescribe from my dermatologist. He thinks this product will suit me best with my current acne condition. I have been using it for a month or so. I have to say that I have no new acne coming out but it does not make the scar disappear. My dermatologist said I have to come back to diminish the scars.
I purchased my Benza Clin from Costco. Paid $50+ includes taxes and handling fee. One bottle can last me 4-5 months but it says I have to stop using it after 3 months prior opening.
What I think about the product...
It might be my thin skin but I experience redness and slight itching after days of using it, it hurts my eyes (I don’t know how that happen) and you need to apply moisturizer after using.
If you don’t use any moisturizer, it will dry up your skin and you might experience pain to your face.

I think this product is pricy! And if I have to pick, I will not pick this product. It does not work that well. It hurts a bit that I have to stop using it for a day or two in a week.

My derma prescribe me 3 refills but I am so not going to purchase another as I don’t see any acne coming out no more. I just need to have these scars disappear. I have been using ID foundation. This is my first time purchasing foundation, $75+ tax (starter kit – fair and fairly light) @Sephora.

My skin best fit fair but the seller convinced me to get the starter instead as if you buy them separately, the kabuki brush itself + the foundation will cost about $70 and the starter kit has warmth, 2 foundations, and veil + 3 brushes for $75.

Anyways, my life has been hectic especially today since an unknown car has parked in my condo parking spot. I hope the owner will remove his/her car soon.

Citra Lasting White Body Wash

0

Another product I got from Indo. This time it was not from cousins but from my beloved hubby. He heard from women in Indo that this body wash can and able to make your skin whiter. That is what they said. So he decides to get one for me. He also bought me another brand; Lux. Lux body wash is nothing special, just a regular liquid body wash with smells.

Back to Citra body wash, I have been using it for a month now and I don’t see any different. I don’t know if my skin is white as is or it just simply doesn’t work and it is just the marketing. However, I did get few bumps on my back the first time I use it. It looks like small acnes bumps clump to each other and just in one circle spot.

I panic of course but it went away after a couple days of using. Hubby was a tad confused on why I keep on using it after the bumps and all but seriously it is just the marketing. Not making me any whiter. So, I am not sure if this is a special product in Indo with higher price and what not but it does not work.

I like its light flowery scented.

I am amazed how there are a lot of things you can do in Indo with cheaper price. When I say cheap, it is way cheaper. Here, when you do body massage, I pay $60-80 bucks for 45 minutes and there, after the conversion and all, only $20 or so. There is this Indo spa service called “lulur” when they pretty much scrub your whole body with fingertips and clean your body up. Nice or what? But hubby said you gotta be 100% naked. Ew! I’d be uncomfortable! I don’t know about the people in there. Maybe it is natural and something normal for them.

Here is a picture of LUX body wash : ) nice huh? Hubby said this one is bigger almost 2 times than Citra but they price almost the same.

Holiday Traditions Body Lotion by Bath and Body

0
I know it is late but I got these babies from mom last December. I love them so much as they smell sooooooo good!!

They come in 1 cute package. 3 bottles, each are 59mL.

Flavours
-Festive Vanilla Fig
-Vanilla Bean Noel
-Winter Candy Apple

Festive Vanilla Fig and Vanilla Bean Noel smell like coffee while the Winter Candy Apple smells like candy/ sweets. If I have to buy the bigger version, I would go for Winter Candy Apple. Not that I dislike the other two but this one is my favourite. You might have a different one : P but yeah, they all smell soooooo good!! The only disadvantage/ negative point for this product is that the moistness of the lotion. I’m no dry skin. I have a normal one but this lotion is not moist enough to go through the day. I think they do best if you’re going to a party. Put it on then the smell will last for a couple hours but seriously I don’t think these lotions are good for daily skin care. Especially in winter time!! In summer maybe... but winter no way! I’d rather smell normal and have a marry moist skin all day long than chapped skin that follow with rash and itchiness.

Oh and I don’t know the price as this is a gift but I doubt they would cost more than 20 bucks for this little beings.

Mustika Ratu Hair Tonic and Hair Mask

4
This is probably a weird brand for us Torontonians but I will explain thoroughly what they are.

Product #1 Mustika Ratu Hair Tonic

Help reduce dandruffs, not that I have any and promote hair growth. Now, that second one is the reason why I use this product. I got this specific product from a cousin of mine. She went back to Indonesia and I told her to get something with natural ingredient that would promote hair growth and thick hair. So she came back months ago with this.

How do you use it?
Easy! Shampoo clean your hair, conditioner then towel dry your hair. After do all that step you part your hair from the middle/ from the very left to right. Part your hair one by one and every time you part them, pour a little bit of the tonic to the skin. As of me, I would press down with my finger tip after pouring the tonic for every part. Then when you’re done this to your whole head, I would massage the whole head for 2-5 minutes. Give it sometimes as is then when it is a little dry or when your hair is dry then comb them up and style. Although when using this product I don’t recommend you style it afterward. I just let my hair be after that.

Product #2 Mustika Ratu Hair Mask

This one is a little different than the tonic. I only use this once a week. This product also came from my cousin’s visit to Indo.

How do you use it?
Wet your hair with warm-hot water thoroughly. The direction state to shampoo first before placing it on hair but I don’t do that since they’re asking me to shampoo my hair again afterward. Perhaps it is because in Indo, no normal people would bath with warm-hot water as it is 35-40 degree Celsius in there. So I guess the first step is to open up the pores. And so after doing so, I part my hair (again through the whole head) and every time I do that I place the mask on the skin and press it with my finger tip gently. After I did the whole head I would massage it for 10 minutes as stated on the direction. Once done I cover my head with towel (supposedly hot towel). Give it 15-20 minutes then I shampoo my hair + conditioner. After this I’m done. No tonic. I see no use of using both products at the same day as both works for the same purpose. Besides, if I ran out of these products, I have to wait for another cousins/ aunts/ uncles of mine who will travel back and forth from Canada to Indo or another way round.

Btw, just so you know, I may say these products are from natural source but they don’t smell bad! Not as good as chemical smell but they smell ok. You can live with it. Kind of good!

My First Hello

0
I’d like to start with how limited and scarce job availability in Canada is. If you want to know how bad it is, me for example. I haven’t had any permanent job since my graduation in April 2009. I got a couple assignment base jobs. When I say a couple by all means less than 5 in almost a year! Sucks much? I think I graduate in a bad situation. I don’t think It is only me who’s experiencing this. A lot of my friends have decided to continue on finishing their education to the next level due to no job available and so they decide to go back to school instead.

I seriously hope someone would fix this economy situation. I am heartbroken having to stay at home all day long after finishing my Advance diploma.

Anyways, I’ll be writing a couple reviews of products and mostly they’re skin and face products.

Here, one of my daily products.

SUNSILK Daring Volume

I asked a lot of people, “How can I get more hair”. My doctor says I have normal hair but deep inside my heart I knew it’s not much. Then I realized that maybe my hair is normal. It is just that their texture is very silky and thin. So, in order to achieve a normal puff hair looks, I use this product by sunsilk. I put it on every day after shampoo and conditioner. I dry my hair with towel then use this product (1 pump) only and comb through with my fingers. Waited a couple minutes before combing it with hair comb then voila~ I have a little body on my hair.

You should try it out. If you want volume crazy then u should go with any volumized mouse after using this product and style. This product will only help to achieve little body on the hair (at least to help on achieving normal looking hair).
